The objects of The Hamilton Academy of Medicine Foundation are to advance the Arts and Science of Medicine in its various branches and for no other purpose.
The Foundation received its charitable designation from Revenue Canada in December 1985. Its registered charitable number is BN #119236602 RR0001, which is required for the issuing of donation receipts.
In 1993, the Foundation began administering the Dr. Ben Finkelstein Family Medicine Award Fund, established through donations by the Finkelstein Family in memory of Dr. Ben Finkelstein. This annual award recognizes a final-year Family Medicine resident at McMaster University who satisfies specified criteria. The Foundation's Board participates in the selection and presentation of the award.
