A framed certificate recognizing Dr. Darren de SA as HAM President, held up by two physicians at the Annual General Meeting

The Hamilton Academy of Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Jacob (Jake) Szereszewski as President for the 2026–27 term.

Dr. Szereszewski assumed the role at HAM's Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner on June 17, succeeding Dr. Darren de SA.

In his remarks to members, Dr. Szereszewski reflected on the changing demands facing physicians and the role HAM can play in supporting a strong and connected local medical community.

“While the Academy cannot solve every challenge facing healthcare, we can create meaningful opportunities for physicians to connect, learn, support one another, and collectively strengthen our profession.”
Dr. Szereszewski

During his term, HAM will continue to focus on member experience, mission-driven education, communication and connection, and long-term financial sustainability. A key priority will be translating these strategic priorities into practical and measurable value for members.

The coming year will also include the launch of HAM's new website and physician-only member platform, designed to expand opportunities for networking, education, mentorship, information sharing and collaboration. In 2027, the Academy will begin renewing its Strategic Plan to reflect the changing needs of physicians and identify priorities for HAM's next chapter.

As Dr. Szereszewski noted, “The Academy's role is not simply to preserve tradition. It is to build on it.”

HAM thanks Dr. de SA for his leadership and service as President and looks forward to the year ahead under Dr. Szereszewski's leadership.
